INTERNATIONAL CHORAL FESTIVAL

"ACAD. PETKO STAYNOV" 2016

 

 

The International Choral Festival "Acad. Petko Staynov" is intended as a major event in the framework of the celebration program, dedicated to the 120th birth anniversary of academician Petko Staynov as a logical result of the great interest in the choral works of the composer (in the recent years his works have been performed within prestigious music forums from choirs in Belgium, Holland, France, Japan, Taiwan, Israel etc.). The main goal of the festival is also to promote the choral works from Petko Staynov even more and to increase the performances of his most significant choral works in Bulgaria and abroad.

 

The International Choral Festival "Acad. Petko Staynov" 2016 will be realized with the participation of specially invited elite choirs from Europe and the world. The invited ensembles that confirmed their participation in the festival in 2016 are:

  • The Philharmonic Chamber Choir from Taipei, Taiwan;
  • The Chamber Choir of the Moscow State Conservatory "P. I. Tchaikovsky", Russian Federation;
  • Chamber choir PRO ARS - Skopje, Republic of Macedonia (professional choir);
  • Choir of the Blind "Acad. Petko Staynov" - Sofia, Bulgaria.

 

The event will take place from 25th to 27th November 2016 in the Aula of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" under the patronage of the rector of the university.

 

Each of the invited choirs will prepare a concert program with at least one mandatorily included work by Petko Staynov.

 

The choir's conductors will lead workshops with theme and program of their choice.

 

The main organizer of the festival is "Petko Gruev Staynov" Foundation in collaboration with the Union of the Bulgarian Choirs, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and the Student Council at the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ".

 

The main objectives of the festival are:

  1. Promotion of the works of  Petko Staynov and the bulgarian composers in general.
  2. Attracting of a wide range of audience through appropriate presentation of the event and the high professional level of the participating ensembles.
  3. Introduction of the bulgarian audience to the recent trends in the choral art from around the world.
  4. Presentation of the achievements of the bulgarian choral art to the bulgarian and international choral community.
